Funny how things go, a broadband price hike from Vodafone inspires me to look for a bundle deal from sky and I end up staying with Vodafone and have just cancelled my sky tv package instead. Can Vodafone TV customers use the Sky Go app? The Sky Go app can be downloaded by anyone in NZ, but it won't work with a Vodafone TV account as this is not a Sky product. I'm an existing My Sky HDi subscriber who also has a Telstraclear (Vodafone) cable connection. Thinking of moving to one of the new Vodafone UFB (over cable) + Vodafone TV bundles/deals. I'd be interested in the experiences of folk who've already made a similar switch. Simply head to sky.co.nz and register for My Account. Once you have registered and linked your Sky account, you'll then gain access to a host of world-class Sports, TV Shows, and Movies On Demand, as well as the ability to take Sky with you wherever you go!

About the VodafoneTV App | VodafoneTV

Want to watch or record your favourite shows on the go? You can, using the VodafoneTV App on your mobile or tablet while you're at home, or away from home.

The VodafoneTV app supports the following:

  • Live TV (Subscribed Sky content only)
  • Record, Three Day Rewind and Live Pause/Rewind
  • Access to My TV, the TV Guide, and On Demand content


Please note:

  • You can pair 3 devices simultaneously for free
  • After pairing one device, that slot is locked for the next 30 days (even if you unpair it)
  • You are able to unpair 1 device per month from your account

These features are only available on selected content. This can vary depending on whether you're connected to your home network* or away from home**

Viewing permissions are defined by channel rights and depends on the content itself. Rights can differ for the same program between the VodafoneTV box and the VodafoneTV App.

*Home network - refers to the network your VodafoneTV box is connected to
**Away from home - refers to any network your VodafoneTV box is not connected to (including mobile data)

Using the VodafoneTV App

Log into the VodafoneTV App
  1. On your remote, press the menu button and select Apps
  2. Select Phones & Tablets
  3. Select Add device
    A QR code appears
  4. Download and install the VodafoneTV App
  5. Follow the VodafoneTV App prompts to Scan a QR code
  6. Use the VodafoneTV app to scan the QR code displayed on your TV screen
How many devices can I install it on?
  • Register up to 3 devices per account
  • Watch VodafoneTV on one device at a time (not including your VodafoneTV Box)
  • Swap out / remove one of your registered devices once every 30 days

Please note: The VodafoneTV App will not run on jail broken devices.

Using the App

The App contains the same functionality as the VodafoneTV box itself, except that the built in Apps such as YouTube YouTube Kids, NEON, Lightbox, Play Stuff, TVNZ on Demand, Three Now and Netflix cannot be viewed via the VodafoneTV App.

TVNZ and TV3 content cannot be viewed on the VodafoneTV App.

My TV

The MY TV tab shows your recorded or saved content.

  • Here you will see all of the content that you have recorded, saved to watch later, and are part way through watching.

The TV Guide tab displays an overview of all of the content currently playing on TV and displays the symbols that confirm what content can be watched or recorded via the App. <Add Image>

  • Selecting a channel in this list gives the options to Play, Record, and Send to TV
  • Send to TV is only available if you are at home and connected to Wi-Fi.
    If this is not the case, you will see this message:
  • Selecting the icon to the left of the times, opens up more options, such as going backwards or forwards to another day, and selecting specific groups of channels such as Sports, or Movies
On Demand

The On Demand tab is where you can search a library of content to watch when you like.

  • You can add this content to your watchlist to watch later.
  • More titles are being added all the time.

About adding or removing a channel part way through your billing month

Vodafone Sky Go Offer

Subscribing to a channel or package part way through your billing month - you'll receive a part month charge on your next bill (for the days the channels or packages were added during the previous month). VodafoneTV standalone is prepaid, so you will receive the part month charge when you add the channel or package.

Unsubscribing from a channel or package - you can continue to view the channel or package until the end of your billing month.

Add a Channel

Please note: This option is only available if your VodafoneTV service is not charged monthly to your Vodafone bill.

  1. Log in to http://www.vtv.nz
  2. Click the TV Services tab
    The TV Servies screen appears
  3. Click Add more
    You will see that SKY Starter is already selected as this is a required package for all Sky channels
  4. Scroll down to either the Choose a package or Choose a channel section and click Select next to the package/channel you want to add
    If you want to see what channels are available in each package, click View included channels
    The Select button will turn green under the package/channel you have selected to add
  5. Click Checkout
  6. Click Checkout
  7. Enter your credit card details and click Confirm Payment

After clicking Confirm Payment, a message appear to confirm that you are all done:

Remove a channel

Please note: This option is only available if your VodafoneTV service is not charged monthly to your Vodafone bill.

  1. Log in to www.vtv.nz
  2. Click the TV Services
  3. Find the package you want to remove and click Remove subscription
    The Package removal popup appears
  4. Click Confirm
    The SKY subscription to the channel or package you have removed will end on the billing anniversary date

After cancelling your subscription, you'll be able to see how many days remain before the subscription is removed from your account.

If you change your mind and want to re-add the channel, click Renew and your bill will not change.
